3 minute action to stop the Site C dam

The government is feeling the heat of our campaign to stop the Site C dam, but they need an extra push to do the right thing.

Will you take 3 minutes to call Fisheries Minister LeBlanc and ask him refuse to sign permits until courts rule on the First Nations’ legal challenge?

Call now

Wow! Once again, I am absolutely blown away by the Leadnow community’s generosity and commitment. Last week, I spent more time that I’d like to admit checking our fundraising numbers and grinning as I realized how quickly we were going to beat our target…

Thank you so much to the hundreds of you who pitched in to protect the Peace River Valley from the Site C dam.

Because of you, we’ll be able to amplify the voices of affected farmers and First Nations through a powerful video, to set up billboards in the Prime Minister’s riding, and to flood key ministers’ offices with phone calls from people who are concerned by the dam. Click here to make a quick call now.

With pressure mounting on Prime Minister Trudeau to put a moratorium on all construction permits, Treaty 8 First Nations and the Peace Valley Environment Association are organizing their annual Paddle for the Peace.[1] This Saturday, thousands of people will gather in Fort St. John to celebrate the ongoing integrity of the precious Peace River Valley.[2]

While many of us can’t be in Fort St. John for the Paddle, there’s one thing we can do. BC Premier Christy Clark needs federal permits to keep ramming through construction on the dam, and a number of them are sitting on the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans’ desk right now.

Can you take 3 minutes to call Minister LeBlanc’s office right now and ask him not to sign construction permits until courts rule on the Treaty 8 First Nations’ legal challenge? We’ve prepared some simple suggestions for what to say, and even recorded a video of our own Brittany Smith making a sample call to show you just how easy it is.

Just imagine Minister LeBlanc, who is on the verge of picking a side -- Christy Clark vs. local farmers and Treaty 8 First Nations -- hearing his phone ringing off the hook with our calls, as thousands of people prepare to gather for the Paddle for the Peace.

Together, we can make sure he knows he has the support to do the right thing: don’t sign Site C construction permits before the courts rule on the First Nations’ legal challenge.

Thanks for all you do,

Amara and Brittany, on behalf of the Leadnow team

P.S. If you’ve never made a phone call to a politician’s office before, it’s easier than you think. Don’t believe it? Watch Brittany make a phone call -- and then pick up your phone and call.
