Land Back: a webinar with Nuchatlaht leaders!

Hi Paov,

The Nuchatlaht Nation are fighting in the supreme court to get their land back through a groundbreaking title case!

Their hahoulthee (territory) includes a large part of Nootka Island off the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island which has been impacted by industrial logging and fishing for almost a century at the hands of the BC government and giant corporations.

Join us on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 5 pm. Hear the Nuchatlaht people’s story about their groundbreaking title case, their strong and sustainable vision for their lands and waters, and how you can help. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER You’ll need to register to get a link and password for security reasons. The password will be sent to your email after you register. For those of you who won’t be able to join us, we’ll be recording the event and will post it here. You can invite your friends, family and community to the event by clicking here to share the Facebook event page. Speakers will include Nuchatlaht House Speaker Archie Little and other leaders from the community, as well as the Nation's lawyer, Jack Woodward.

Despite passing legislation around the rights of Indigenous peoples and promising to do better, the BC government has continued to throw up obstacles and fight against the Nuchatlaht. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Public support is key to winning this precedent-setting case. Come see what you can do to help this tiny nation in their fight for sovereignty.
