Volunteers Excel

Our volunteer chapters excelled last month, hosting five candidates debates on Vancouver Island and in Metro Vancouver, in partnership with the Dogwood Initiative. The debates focussed on green jobs, renewable energy, intergenerational equity, the Enbridge and Kinder Morgan pipeline proposals, the National Energy Board and Canada's share of greenhouse gas emissions, and aimed to raise awareness and understanding of sustainable energy issues and the candidates’ positions in the lead up to the federal election. The debate series has already reached hundreds of voters, with two debates remaining in Sidney and North Vancouver.

Staff and volunteers also reached out to hundreds of students... last month, getting out the vote and promoting the association at the Camosun College Sustainability Week and the Thompson Rivers University Back-to-School BBQ.

Welcome Kim Veness!

In September we welcomed Kim Veness to our business development team. Kim is working to bring our vision of a lower-carbon economy to businesses large and small across BC. Kim’s addition reflects our renewed focus on building a member network committed to sustainable energy and increasing the value we bring to the business community. Read more about Kim here.

Looking for a way to have your say?

There are still a few weeks left to sign the Earth Flag before it leaves for Paris, and businesses can join us in supporting stronger climate action and be recognized as a green economy leader by signing the Vancouver Climate Pledge.
