This one LNG terminal puts Canada’s climate targets at risk

Dear Paov,

It’s not every day that 30,000 Canadians comment on an environmental assessment process.

But that is how many people submitted comments to the assessment for the Pacific Northwest Liquefied Natural Gas terminal – many of them opposed.

While Canadians work hard to reduce their emissions, Pacific Northwest LNG, if built, would be one of the biggest point sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the entire country.

The project at Lelu Island/Lax U'u'la on BC's north coast would pump 11 million tonnes of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere every year.

This one terminal would have a bigger carbon footprint than all the vehicles, buildings and garbage in Metro Vancouver combined!

This project would completely blow BC’s climate targets and even put national goals at risk. And it would produce dirty fossil fuel that over the short term does even more damage to the climate than coal!

This is why we need you to hold the federal government to their promise to fight climate change by demanding they reject the proposed Pacific Northwest LNG terminal.

Please write a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet ministers in BC telling them to reject this project!

Together we can and will stop this dirty fossil fuel project.

For the climate,
