6,381 of us are calling for the release of jailed Turkish trade unionists - will you join us? r1 ... I'm not sure if you saw this message which I sent to you last week. Over 6,000 of us have sent messages to Turkey demanding justice for these workers. But this is not enough. We need your help, today, to ramp up the pressure and demand the release of our jailed friends. Thank you!

Istanbul is getting a new airport, one of several grandiose projects of the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In a mad rush to complete the project in time, health and safety regulations have been shunted aside. And as a result, 37 workers have died and many more have been injured over the last four years.

The construction workers have had enough, and went on strike last month for a couple of days.

The reaction of the Turkish state was swift and brutal: some 600 workers were arrested and 35 of them remain in prison. Among them is Ozgur Karabulut, the president of a construction workers' union. Hundreds of workers have lost their jobs.

They are asking for all of us to send messages of protest to the government, demanding the release of the jailed unionists.

It will take you less than a minute to support their campaign by adding your name. Please do so by clicking here:

And please share this message with your friends, family and fellow union members.

Thank you!
