CUPE FIGHTING SCARE TACTICS AT OMERS

In June, the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) announced it would be voting on a number of changes that would hugely impact the 500,000 workers that contribute to it across Ontario in November.

According to Fred Hahn, President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Ontario, at the latest OMERS sponsors meeting the plan presented skewed numbers to convince union representatives that changes to the pension plan are necessary to protect workers. Read more!

DAY OF ACTION TELLS FORD: HANDS OFF $15

On October 15, actions across the province mobilized to defend $15 and Fairness for Ontario workers. Doug Ford’s Conservative government has suggested they will roll back the gains made last year in Bill 148. A $15 minimum wage, equal pay for equal work, an end to on-call scheduling, and 10 personal emergency leave days are all at risk. Read more!
