Fighting for compassion and choice

Dear Friends,
With your support and after many years of fighting, we finally won the right for people who are sick and suffering to choose a medically assisted death. But the government’s new law unfairly restricts that right, leaving so many behind. In the coming year, we finally have the opportunity to challenge this law in court.
We are fighting alongside Julia Lamb, a courageous woman who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a hereditary disease that causes weakness and wasting of the voluntary muscles. Nothing can cure it.
Julia is free-spirited, creative, and independent. She works as a retail sales associate and is working on starting a small business. She has a close network of friends and family. But in recent years, Julia has become increasingly concerned about her declining health.
She wants the peace of mind of knowing that if her suffering becomes unbearable, she has the right to seek medical assistance in dying.
The Supreme Court of Canada granted Julia that right but our government took it away.
Together, we can ensure that the most important voices in the case are heard. The court needs to hear from Julia and others like her who the government’s new law leaves behind.
Thank you for funding a future with compassion and choice.
