Council of Canadians chapters have been busy organizing for water and climate justice to kick off 2019!

Making the case for a new 260,000 barrel per day, $20 billion, 41-year-lifespan tar sands mine in an era of climate crisis requires some impressive creativity.


Why we're intervening in the Sask. carbon pricing case As part of a collective of seven other social and environmental justice organizations and two of our SK chapters, we are set to intervene in Saskatchewan’s case against the federal carbon pricing plan, the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (GGPPA), arguing that it must be upheld as constitutional. We filed our final affidavits to the Saskatchewan Court of Appeals earlier this week.


2018 in review: offshore drilling
2018 was a huge year for the growing resistance to offshore drilling! As this year draws to a close we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come, where we need to go next, and what we’ve learned in our struggle to protect offshore Nova Scotia from the threats of offshore drilling!
