Health Canada just announced that it's siding with Monsanto on the registration of Monsanto's toxic pesticide, glyphosate. Despite public pressure, Health Canada says it won't re-open the registration process for glyphosate.
But we know that, with enough pressure, we can change that.

Health Canada used fraudulent studies written by Monsanto employees to renew the registration for Monsanto’s carcinogenic pesticide, glyphosate, for 15 years.
Monsanto hired researchers to sign scientific studies written by its own employees to minimize the risks associated with glyphosate, the ingredient of its flagship product, Roundup, even though the pesticide giant was aware of the carcinogenic and mutagenic potential of glyphosate since 1999.
And these same studies were used by Health Canada, to justify this toxic pesticide being used on our fields and foods. This is even more concerning now that glyphosate traces have been found in common kids foods like Cheerios and KD.
Health Canada needs to urgently re-open the regulation of this toxic herbicide and ensure that the information it uses to approve this cancerous chemical come from truly independent sources.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer, which reports to the World Health Organization, declared in 2015 that glyphosate is a "probable carcinogen" that contributes to the formation of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. And this dangerous pesticide is everywhere -- just last month, Environmental Defence released a study that tested common children lunch food products sold in Canada and found 80% of the samples has glyphosate in it.
And despite the findings of the WHO, Health Canada quoted studies that are now known to have been manipulated by Monsanto to approve this toxic pesticide. With glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto's toxic RoundUp, showing up in our food, we need action on this more than ever.
Luckily, Health Canada said that it may make a decision in the next few weeks to revoke glyphosate’s registration, maintain its decision to renew it, resume the assessment process, or even order an independent study. Hearing from you now could turn the tides and prevent glyphosate from getting into our food and fields.
