Sharon has been busy again this week — this time breaking a huge story about two of Banff National Park's three wolf packs likely being decimated by trappers who bait the animals just outside of the park.
It began with a tip from a reader. That got us started as we tried to pin down the facts in the murky environment of off-grid trappers and swirling rumours. In the process, we learned of a larger issue: baited trapping is legal outside park boundaries. Other jurisdictions have buffer zones around their parks. Canada doesn’t. What effect is this having on wide-ranging wildlife species like wolves? Get the full story.
