Airbnb reversed its decision to honour Palestinian human rights and will continue to profit off the destruction of Palestinian lives and land.
Send a strong message to Airbnb execs and call on them to delist Israel-occupied properties today!
A,
Today, May 15th, is Nakba Day -- a time to commemorate the 700,000 Palestinians displaced from their homes and lands 71 years ago. And this year, SumOfUs members can send a powerful message to Airbnb to get back on the... side of international human rights and laws and delist rentals on stolen Palestinian lands.
Late last year, because of your pressure, Airbnb announced it would delist rentals suites on the ruins of Palestinian lives and land. However last month, Airbnb did a complete 180 and said it will continue to rent out illegal homes in Israel-occupied Palestine.
Palestinians have lost their homes and land, but Airbnb and settlers can continue to profit off violating Palestinian rights by renting out homes built on Palestinian land. This is why SumOfUs we are asking you to join the 150,000 other SumOfUs members who have already signed?
Tell Airbnb to stop listing Israel-occupied Palestinian homes now!
Airbnb knows your power and has bowed to it before. 150,000 SumOfUs members like you signed a petition against Airbnb and the StolenHomes coalition delivered your demands right to Airbnb’s doorsteps in San Francisco, Dublin, London, Paris, and Portland as well as to 17 branches of a large Airbnb shareholder, Fidelity Investments.
This reneging on its commitment to delist from the settlements is a slap in the face to Palestinians, international law, and even Airbnb’s own vision to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. And, it’s a betrayal of all the human rights organizations and activists who cheered Airbnb’s earlier decision.
That's why we need to ramp up the pressure.
Will you call on Airbnb to delist Israel-occupied Palestinian homes?
SumOfUs was part of the StolenHomes Coalition that led this tremendous effort. And now we're excited to join a new global coalition in new efforts to stop Airbnb including Jewish Voice for Peace, Institute for Palestinian Diplomacy, and US Palestinian Community Network.
And Airbnb is not the only place where we are supporting Palestinian solidarity. More than 140,000 SumOfUs members are calling on French insurance giant, AXA, to stop investing in Israeli weapons maker Elbit Systems, and banks that finance Israel’s illegal settlement expansion in Palestine. We are also actively talking to groups in the West Bank to fight back against PayPal’s discrimination against Palestinian businesses.
Thanks for all that you do,
Angus, Sijal, Leyla, Amelia, and the team at SumOfUs
