Cinecenta Films
Join us on Thursday, August 27th, for a film screening of Patagonia’s ARTIFISHAL at Cinecenta theatre at the University of Victoria! Doors open at 6:20pm and the film will start at 7pm.
There will be a Q&A with Aaron Hill, our Executive Director, and Misty MacDuffee from Raincoast Conservation Foundation following the film.
“ARTIFISHAL is a film about people, rivers, and the fight for the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. It explores wild salmon’s slide toward extinction, threats posed by fish hatcheries and fish farms, and our continued loss of faith in nature.”
As an organization, we advocate to remove open-net fish farms from our coastal waters. Patagonia does an amazing job shedding a light on the problems created by fish farms.
Admission prices are as follows:
UVSS Students: $5.75
Seniors (65 & older), Children (12 & under): $5.75
UVic Alumni, Faculty, Staff and guest (1 only) of above: $6.75
Cinemagic Members: $6.75

Occupy BC Timber Sales Office
SEPTEMBER 24, 2019
BC Timber Sales Office Victoria BC
Hosted by Friends of Carmanah/Walbran
During the week of the upcoming global climate strikes, Friends of Carmanah/Walbran (FOCW), a grassroots collective with a history of organizing civil disobedience in defense of old-growth temperate rainforests, are considering an action to peacefully occupy the local offices of the BC Timber Sales (BCTS). People are being encouraged to arrange for the day off work on this day in solidarity with climate strike actions world-wide!
Our message is that it is morally unconscionable to be destroying primary old-growth forests.
If you are interested in participating in this office sit-in, are prepared to risk arrest and/or would like non-violent direct action training in preparation for this action-- or can contribute in any of a variety of ways, please email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
