Now that the election is over, its time for us to push for ambitious solutions to the climate emergency.
As the Liberals try to form government, its time to send a message to NDP, Greens, Bloc and Liberals that you want bold climate action now.
A,
Now that the Canadian election is over, we need to act fast to push for real action on corporate-induced climate change.
You know know the reason for the urgency -- the IPCC report is warning that there were just 12 years left to avoid irreversible damage to the climate.
So it's no surprise that time and time again, SumOfUs members like you have said that climate change is your number one concern. Just yesterday, thousands of people responded to SumOfUs' post election survey -- and an overwhelming amount of you want us to push our government for a climate solution. And you acted too -- 7.6 million people around the world... hit the streets around the world to strike for climate last month.
With a minority government, the Liberals now have to work with the other parties in order to stay in power. Minority governments are the perfect opportunity to push for progressive policies like real climate action. That’s why we are joining a coalition of groups around the country to ask the Liberals, Bloc, NDP, and Greens to cooperate for bold action on climate.
Bold climate action includes a plan that has:
The Bloc, NDP and Greens hold a lot of bargaining power right now, to push the Liberals for bold climate action and further on away from the Conservative’s big oil platform right now. But we need to act quick.
Sign the petition now to call for our elected officials to take bold climate action.
SumOfUs exists to hold corporations accountable. And over the last several years, SumOfUs members in Canada have fought Big Oil countless times. From tar sands expansion projects to tailing ponds to pipeline after pipeline you have shown up to stop Big Oil from trashing our planet and bulldozing Indigenous rights.
We believe now, with a Liberal Minority government is a time to push our elected officials to address corporate induced climate change.
Thanks for all that you do,
Angus, Amelia, Luca, and the team at SumOfUs
