A new study has found that the Paraguayan Chaco has the fastest rate of deforestation in the world. This is disastrous news for the Ayoreo tribe who rely entirely on the forest for their survival. Uncontacted members of the tribe are being forced to flee from ranchers bulldozing their land for cattle ranching.
Dear Minister Cristina Morales Palarea,
I’m appalled to learn that the Chaco has the fastest rate of deforestation in the world.
The forest is home to uncontacted Ayoreo Indians who cannot survive without it.
Brazilian company Yaguarete Pora S.A. is rapidly destroying the last hiding place of the vulnerable Ayoreo.
Soon the Indians will have nowhere left to live.
Please uphold Paraguayan and international law by protecting the Ayoreo's land claim and prohibiting the companies from carrying out any further work.
Sincerely,
Donate to Survival's campaign to protect the Ayoreo's land
