The 50th anniversary of Earth Day took place during an unprecedented time of accelerating climate change and a pandemic -- both global challenges upon our health and wellbeing, individually and communally. The gift of these times of uncertainty, however, lies within our ability to imagine a different world is possible.
In celebration of this one Earth we all call home, let’s continue in conversation and in community, to move forward on this path together for a healthy environment and Indigenous rights. Join us for the next episode of “We are Un-Frackable” this Tuesday, April 28th, 4 pm PDT/7 pm EDT. We will learn about creative strategies, fierce determination and powerful stories from those who are pushing back against fracked gas.
On the third episode in our “unfrackable” webinar series, we will hear from Kukuwes Wowkis, Mi’kmaq water protector and grandmother from Unama’ki (Cape Breton), who has been on the frontlines of fights against fracked gas across Mi’kma’ki territory. Learn about the smart strategies and amazing characters behind campaigns to stop Petroworth in Cape Breton, SWN in Elsipogtog in New Brunswick, and Alton Gas in Sipekne’katik. Wowkis will be joined by Robin Tress of the Council of Canadians, a climate justice campaigner and anti-fracking organizer with a wealth of knowledge on how to connect grassroots movements to make big, systemic change.
