COVID-19 pandemic. We offer them our Solidarity. We'd like to offer them more.

Artesana Collective is a nonprofit association that works to support women deprived of their liberty as well as their children. A recent measure imposed by the Guatemalan government, is the suspension of all visits to the detention centres. This includes visits to elderly women as well as mothers living in detention with their young children (newborn to four years of age).
Artesana with the support of the Hawthorne Foundation and individual donations, is able to provide meals, hygiene and cleaning supplies for more than 100 mothers and children across the country. With the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, Artesana’s General Coordinator Andrea Barrios is kindly requesting support and donations to keep providing emergency relief, in addition to thier ongoing work. APSIES (Salvadoran Association for Integrated Health and Social Services) has been a CoDev partner since 1991. Along with Canadian Partners BCGEU, FPSE, HEU and HSA, CoDev supports APSIES’s work strengthening health rights and women’s rights in rural communities.
Their work has never been more critical than it is now. APSIES is working to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by working with community and health authorities to reduce the impacts of the pandemic by participating in the Municipal Commissions for Civilian Protection; giving voice to community suggestions, wants and needs.
