Hi Paov,
Over the weekend, millions of Global Citizens around the world tuned in to Global Goal: Unite for Our Future. Airing in more than 180 countries and streaming globally across YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, this special event featured unforgettable performances and messages from artists, as well as commitments to support an equitable COVID-19 response.
This campaign was a collective effort of Global Citizens like you, together with government and corporate leaders, artists, and philanthropists to inspire and make commitments for healthier and stronger communities. From Canada alone, we saw pledges of $120 million for the ACT Accelerator and $180 million for COVID-19 humanitarian and development aid — and Canada could still give more!
Globally, we helped mobilize US $6.9 billion for COVID-19 relief, supporting some of the world’s most marginalized communities.
The pledged funds will in part help ensure that the vaccines and treatments developed to fight COVID-19 will be accessible to everyone, everywhere. This is how the funds will be used:
To learn more about our collective impact, you can read the full report here. We could not have done this without the support of Global Citizens. We cannot thank you enough for your commitment to helping the world’s most vulnerable people.
Michael Sheldrick,
Chief Policy and Government Affairs Officer
