Work at the systemic level takes a long time, and 2019 saw much progress on civil liberties and human rights issues that we’ve been fighting for many years.
From challenging racist police street checks, protecting the rights of imprisoned people, to combatting state surveillance, our work continues onwards.
Here’s a snapshot of our 2019 Annual Report:
The BCCLA has been protecting human rights and civil liberties in Canada for over 50 years. This work is only possible with the support of our members. There’s strength in numbers, and our members allow us to be a powerful force, defending rights and freedoms well into the future.
Will you join the oldest and most active civil liberties organization in the country?
As a member, you will receive future annual reports and newsletters to learn more about our work and ways to get involved, and can vote at our Annual General Meeting. This year we held our Annual General Meeting virtually for the first time! If you want to learn more about our work in the past year, check out a recording of this year’s virtual Annual General Meeting here.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to civil liberties and human rights for all.
Sincerely,
Iman Baobeid
