Hi Paov,

Did you know that Global Citizen actions have directly helped to protect over 45 million children against polio?

The original Global Citizen Festival was actually an event about the elimination of polio. Nearly a decade ago, we hosted the “End of Polio Concert” in Australia — and this #WorldPolioDay, we’re looking back at your astonishing impact.

That first festival, in 2011, raised funds for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). Since then, hundreds of thousands of actions have been taken by Global Citizens like you — resulting in commitments across the world, including the UK’s pledge to immunise 45 million children against the disease every year until 2020.

That means globally over 80 children every minute are receiving life-saving polio vaccines because of Global Citizen actions, saving more than 65,000 children from paralysis each year.

Take Action: Continue The Fight To End Polio

Inspired by the impact we’ve made so far? Then keep taking action! Progress to end polio has been incredible but this year millions of children have missed out on essential vaccinations due to COVID-19.

Tell world leaders to make up for lost time so that no child is left unprotected.
