Spoiler alert: they found nothing‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

After two years and 3.5 million taxpayer dollars funneled into a pro-oil, conspiracy-peddling process, the public inquiry into anti-Alberta Energy Campaigns submitted its final report to the Alberta government last week. What wrongdoing or conspiracy did it uncover? Absolutely nothing.

Launched by Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, this inquiry was nothing more than a thinly veiled tactic to intimidate environmental groups like Stand.earth. But even though we always knew its claims were baseless, defending ourselves against it has still been a distraction from the climate emergency we’re facing.

We have no intention of letting Kenney’s ridiculous conspiracy theories slow us down – but in order to correct the many mistruths in the report, we need lawful representation, and that means legal fees (grimace).

Will you rush a contribution today to help retain legal support to defend us against Kenney’s empty attacks?

Jason Kenney’s inquiry is peddling the false conspiracy theory that foreign groups are funding an anti-Alberta campaign – and has even commissioned reports questioning the scientific validity of human-caused climate change.

This whole endeavour would be laughable if it wasn’t so dangerous. Jason Kenney is drawing from a well-worn playbook used around the world to attempt to silence voices that call attention to the damaging impacts of the oil and gas industry.

We refuse to be silenced. Donate to help scale up our response to this shoddy report and make sure we have the legal support we need to combat misinformation.

From record-breaking temperatures to tumultuous wildfires, it’s hard to ignore the ramifications of not taking the climate crisis seriously. But, I guess if you're in the pockets of Big Oil like Jason Kenney, it’s easier to put blinders on.

So, we’ll leave Jason Kenney with this quick question — what does this look like to you?
