Electoral reform in Canada is long overdue
r1
This federal election, ask your local candidates where they stand on proportional representation ...
Dear Friend,
When the federal Liberals ran for office in 2015, they promised electoral reform by the next election. Now, six years later, we’ll be heading to the polls to vote in an unchanged first-past-the-post electoral system.
This system distorts Canadians’ electoral preferences, fails to reflect who we really are, and creates voter apathy in the process. First-past-the-post elections regularly produce majority governments that most voters do not support.
In the next few weeks, candidates will be looking to secure your vote, and we encourage you to ask them this one simple question about how they will make our elections more democratic:
Will you support a National Citizens’ Assembly on electoral reform before the next election?
