Dear Friend,

Today is an exciting day – Giving Tuesday is today!

Here at the BCCLA, we are busy preparing for our fight to end prolonged solitary confinement. We filed a lawsuit to stop the wardens at federal prisons from unlawfully placing people in long-term solitary confinement.

We are hoping to raise $5,000 today and tomorrow towards this lawsuit. And good news – one of our generous donors, Andrew Beckerman, is offering a matching challenge!

Make a gift on Giving Tuesday and it will be matched one-for-one up to a maximum of $2,500. The match will only be available for 48 hours, so you’ll have to act fast!

The criminal legal system is expansive, and it criminalizes Indigenous, Black, racialized, and low-income people; trapping them and making meaningful change difficult.

The government claims that... long-term solitary confinement has been banned. But wardens at federal prisons continue to isolate people in long-term solitary confinement by using lockdowns and “restrictive movement routines.”

We are taking this on, and we cannot make change without your help. Make your donation today, and have it matched for up to $2,500!

Sincerely,

Megan Tweedie (she/her)
