Hi Paov,

We are still reeling from the groundswell of energy at the mass organizing call we hosted last week with our pals at the Council of Canadians and nearly 600 of you across the country.

I wanted you to be the first to know that since we launched the Day of Action for a Just Transition on that call, 12 groups have already added actions to the map. People across the country get what our politicians fail to understand – the stakes are too high for us to delay the shift off of fossil fuels any further.

But I’ll be frank. To have the most impact at this pivotal moment in the fight against the climate crisis, we need actions in as many communities as possible to get the attention of those in power. Paov, will you take a moment and register to host an event in your community on the Day of Action for a Just Transition?

Let me explain why your action matters: Justin Trudeau promised us a Just Transition Act three years ago. Getting just transition legislation right is a critical first step to secure good, green jobs for... workers and communities as we move off fossil fuels, and will put critical investments back into our communities that have been left scrambling due to the climate emergency and rising inequality.

With dozens of actions coordinated across the country, each event designed to bring our collective vision for a Just Transition to life, we’ll mount pressure on our politicians to implement the boldest possible version of the Just Transition Act, one that creates meaningful work and tackles the overlapping crises of climate change and inequality.

The good news is we have made taking action very simple. We’ve created a step-by-step guide to organizing your event so it has the most impact, and our organizers will work with you every step of the way. We know hosting an event for a day of action can sound overwhelming, but the stakes of the climate emergency are too high to allow our self-interested politicians to keep wasting time. 2021 was another deadly year of record-breaking climate extremes.
