A,
Thanks again for holding big brands like Mondelez and Procter & Gamble accountable for sourcing palm oil from bad producers. Now let's take this fight to Twitter and publicly call out P&G right before its biggest annual meeting -- we know bad social media publicity is poison right before a big party!
P&G claims to be a sustainability leader, but the truth is: the palm oil it buys for Head & Shoulders shampoo, Crest toothpaste or Tide detergent is linked to Indigenous land grabs, deforestation and fueling the climate crisis. The last thing its CEO wants for P&G's annual meeting in October is noise and bad publicity …
…so, let’s give them *exactly that*. More than 67,000 SumOfUs members have already signed the petition urging P&G to stop sourcing bad palm oil from producers that bulldoze the last rainforest on Earth where orangutans, rhinos, elephants and tigers roam free. Now let's ramp up the pressure and send P&G a massive tweet storm calling out its bad palm oil habit!
A, tweet P&G and demand it stops sourcing dirty palm oil.
P&G says it has a strong non-deforestation policy and is committed to protect people and the planet, but... a closer look quickly reveals that what it’s doing is the bare minimum, lacking thorough monitoring throughout the entire palm oil supply chain, and a commitment to respect Indigenous peoples and workers rights.
As a market leader in personal care and household products, P&G needs to up its game and stop procrastinating: Its palm oil supply chain is *infested* with bad producers, from rogue plantation operators razing the “orangutan capital of the world” to agribusiness giants that are involved in Indigenous land grabs.
Let’s use the momentum of P&G’s upcoming annual meeting on October 11, and plaster its twitter feed with our campaign message!
Thanks for all that you do,
Rosa, Fatah and the team at SumOfUs
