Update from Guatemala: primary women's health care facility r1 ... r33 DONATE VIA GoFundMe Update from Women's Health Centre in Rural Guatemala
To date, our members and supporters have helped us raise more than $6,000 to provide medicines and multivitamins, supplies for the primary care clinic, and much-needed maternity and post-partum care, including the support of a local traditional midwife, in the community of Nuevo Horizonte in Guatemala.

We are more than half-way to our goal, and every donation goes a long way to support primary and maternity care in this inspiring community which has served as a model of solidarity across the region.

Update
In June 2022 Capacidad's primary care team visited Nuevo Horizonte and provided clinical services to 142 people for one week. The patients' ages varied from 10 months to 82 years old - the average age was 30 years - and 12 women between the ages of 17-30 had prenatal exams. The most common diagnoses found were parasites, musculoskeletal pain, and peptic acid disease.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared Capacidad has provided consultations, funds, harm reduction supplies, masks, hand sanitizer, rapid tests, and gloves to Nuevo Horizonte on numerous occasions. The community was able to keep COVID case numbers low. Even though COVID vaccination rates in Nuevo Horizonte are unknown, the community has collectively encouraged and supported its members to receive vaccines as they became available.
