Dear Friend,

This year, the BCCLA turns 60.

That’s 60 years of commitment, 60 years of advocacy, 60 years of fighting for change.

I am proud that in recent years we’ve paid particular attention to the needs of marginalized communities, whose voices are often silenced and unheard. This past year alone, we’ve shown that commitment in our day-to-day work.

We stood in solidarity with crucial voices in the fight for transformative change. We supported sex workers in their fight for a safer sex industry. We urged the Federal government to repeal all mandatory minimum sentences and decriminalize drugs.

We want to do this work as long as necessary to uphold civil liberties and human rights. This holiday season, will you make a year-end donation, so we can continue this important work for years to come?

Our work doesn’t stop here. We are tenacious, creative, and principled. We came this far with strategies and in coalition with organizations... and community groups. Like you, we are passionate about just and equitable changes.

At the BCCLA, we want to be your vehicle for change. Your support today means we can:

- Fight to end Immigration Detention on a federal level;

- Litigate and intervene in important cases concerning your privacy rights;

- Continue our work in police accountability and law reform by participating in critical discussions such as the Lethbridge Police Service Inquiry;

- Develop and update our educational resources, such as the Arrest Handbook, so more people can know their rights when interacting with law enforcement.

Be part of our community’s history. Please stand with us and donate today.

Thank you for being on our side.

Sincerely,

Karen Mirsky (she/her)
President

P.S. Donate today so we can do our work for another 60 years and more. Thank you for standing with us.
