news and action Saturday April 1, 2023 Spring is coming to B.C. and momentum is building. People are pushing back against oil and gas companies, the banks that fund them and the cops that do their dirty work.

This week 100 teams across the province put up bold, beautiful “End Fracking” posters and dropped banners from highway overpasses. Where will Frack Free BC strike next? Find out and get involved at the next organizing call on Monday.

Also this week, a dozen pipeline mercenaries from the RCMP’s notorious C-IRG unit trooped into a village site on Wet’suwet’en territory and arrested five people on very shaky charges....

The Abolish C-IRG campaign responded the next morning with a free breakfast and rally outside police minister Mike Farnworth’s office in Victoria. You could feed a lot of people with the $36 million top-up our government just gave C-IRG.

Today is Fossil Fools day, a great chance to picket the Canadian banks funding Coastal GasLink and Trans Mountain’s ongoing Indigenous rights violations.

Next week is Royal Bank’s annual general meeting, where shareholders – and Indigenous leaders – get to grill executives on why they’re losing money to prop up fossil fuel projects.

The land is reawakening. Pipeline construction is about to bog down in the big thaw. All these projects are bleeding money. It’s our job to make the most of this swing in momentum.
