NOTE: Here’s a quote from James O’Rourke Chairman of Compliance Energy Corporation from a Business in Vancouver article May, 2010. I wonder what he thinks of the opposition now!




Compliance wants to build the Raven underground coal mine on Vancouver Island, but residents there have voiced environmental concerns about the project. O’Rourke expects a lot of opposition to Raven, not unlike Campbell River’s response to Quinsam in the early... ’80s. “Everyone in town had bumper stickers that said, ‘Hell no Quinsam Coal,’’ said O’Rourke. “In retrospect, it’s been running now 10 or 15 years, and everyone’s quite comfortable with it, and I think Raven will be the same.”
