Council of Canadians at OEB hearing on Energy East pipeline this evening

The Ontario Minister of Energy has asked the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to hold public consultations on the proposed Energy East tar sands pipeline.

The Arctic Journal reports, "It began with the Council of Canadians, a prestigious social action... group, when it, in a January 16 blog post, announced it was standing with the Nunavut hamlet in favour of moratorium on seismic testing in Baffin Bay."

Protect the Sacred Headwaters: Stop Imperial Metals Red Chris Mine

Imperial Metals, the mining company responsible for the largest mining disaster in B.C.'s history - the ongoing Mount Polley Mine disaster- will be seeking the final permit to open its controversial and highly contested Red Chris mine in the Sacred Headwaters of northwestern B.C.
