State level opposition in Europe to the investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) provision continues to grow.


Civil society slams Harper's new anti-terrorism legislation
While the New Democrats and Liberals have been muted in their critique of Harper's new "anti-terrorism" legislation, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association, the Green Party, the International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group, Edward Snowden and even the Globe and Mail editorial board have begun to speak out.


Support the call for an inquiry on murdered and missing Indigenous women
Over the past three years the Council of Canadians has repeatedly called for a national inquiry on murdered and missing Indigenous women.


Owen Sound debates the human right to water
Blackburn News reports, "[Owen Sound Water Watch] committee spokesperson Liz Zetlin says they’re asking the city to declare water a human right, to ensure the city’s water and water treatment facilities remain in public hands and want bottled water phased out."


Chiefs of Ontario call for halt to NEB review of Energy East pipeline proposal
Ontario Regional Chief Stan Beardy has written to the Harper government indicating to them the need for "a delay in the NEB [National Energy Board] approvals process [for the proposed Energy East pipeline] to undertake the process of consultation and accommodation." His letter was sent on behalf of the Chiefs of Ontario which "is a political forum and secretariat for collective decision-making, action, and advocacy for the 133 First Nations communities located in Ontario."
