New video - $3 billion in missing anti-terror funding

SHD Dear PAOV,

I'm writing to share a new 5-minute preview from the SHD documentary about surveillance. We started filming this documentary in 2013 thanks to the support of donors across the country.

When we started this project the issue was barely showing up in public debate. Now more people are thinking about it because of the Conservatives’ “Secret Police” bill. As the issue was not popular at the time, we were only ever able to raise 22% of the funds we needed to complete this film. However, we didn’t let that stop us. Many of us volunteered our time and our organization allocated additional funding to continue developing this important project.

We’ve interviewed numerous people who the government has tried to intimidate through their ruthless surveillance programs. We’ve talked to leading experts on privacy and two journalists on the frontlines of the fight for government transparency. We’ve even organized numerous direct actions to confront the government’s spy agencies and learned about CSIS surveillance of our own team members. Thanks to the support of donors who were ahead of the curve we are now positioned to release this hard-hitting 30-minute documentary right before the upcoming election.

The timing couldn’t be better. The Conservatives are desperately trying to distract from their economic failures and may even force an early election. If they do we need to be ready to diffuse their terrorism propaganda and focus attention on their achilles heel: economic failures. Can you chip in to make sure we’re ready for this fight?
