PAOV – There's a new animals' rights petition taking off on Change.org, and we think you might be interested in signing it.
It's time for the authorities to take action to stop Canada Goose from claiming fur trapping is humane. Animal Justice has filed a consumer protection complaint with the Competition Bureau on behalf of Canadian consumers who object to Canada Goose's misleading advertising campaign.
Canada Goose preys on ethically conscious consumers by falsely claiming that the coyote fur trim on its popular winter jackets is from "humanely" trapped coyotes. But there's nothing "humane" about wearing fur.
Fur trapping involves practices that most consumers consider extremely inhumane. Trappers use cruel leg hold and kill traps that cause significant pain, injury, and suffering to animals. Leg hold traps may legally be left unchecked for up to five days at a time, or indefinitely in the case of kill traps. This leaves animals victims to suffer from exposure, predation, hunger, and thirst. Animals that are unlucky enough to be caught in traps are typically strangled, smothered, or clubbed to death by trappers to prevent their fur pelts from being spoiled and losing commercial value.
Ask the Competition Bureau to investigate and take appropriate legal action to stop Canada Goose from continuing to mislead consumers!
