It's time to pull bee-toxic pesticides off the market

For the bees

Take Action

Dear Paov,

Good news! Last month, Representatives John Conyers (D-MI) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) re-introduced the Saving America's Pollinators Act.

If passed, this law will pull bee-toxic neonicotinoid pesticides from the market until their safety is proven. Europe took this common-sense step back in 2013; action here in the U.S. is long overdue.

A bill for the bees » Science continues to point to "neonics" as a major factor in ongoing and dramatic bee die-offs — yet widespread use of these insecticides continues. It's time for Congress to get in the ring! Urge your Representative to support H.R. 1284 today.

Momentum for bees continues to build at the local and state level. New "Honey Bee Haven" ordinances are being adopted in cities across the country, and Minnesota lawmakers are considering a five-year moratorium on neonics. But federal action is needed too.

Earlier this month EPA announced it would not approve any new neonics — a small step in the right direction. But so far, they have failed to address the 100+ products already on the market. The Saving America's Pollinators Act does.

Save our pollinators! » H.R. 1284 would suspend use of neonics until a full review of scientific evidence — plus field studies — demonstrate no harmful impacts to pollinators. Until then, these chemicals would be off the shelf. Urge your Representatives to support this important step!

In North America, honey bees pollinate nearly 95 kinds of fruits, from almonds to avocados, cranberries to apples. We rely on them for the food we eat every day. It's high time for Congress to step up on this critical issue.

Thank you for taking action!
