Elle demande à la ville d'Halifax de cesser d'empoisonner des oiseaux avec de l'Avitrol, un pesticide banni dans plusieurs juridictions, car ce dernier provoque des convulsions pendant plusieurs heures chez tous les vertébrés qui la consomment et parce qu'il existe des alternatives bien moins cruelles à ce problème.

Halifax Regional Municipality is poisoning pigeons at one of its libraries. It is using Avitrol, a pesticide that causes epileptic-like convulsions, not only in birds, but in any vertebrates that consume it.
Avitrol has been banned in many jurisdictions for being inhumane. Many pest control experts also doubt its effectiveness.
It is the 21st century, and there are many humane options available which effectively control birds without the use of lethal poisons. Using poison that causes animals to convulse for hours or to die is unconscionable and unacceptable.
We call on Halifax Regional Municipality to stop poisoning birds, as well as any other animals it may be attempting to control.
