Elle demande au gouvernement du Canada et de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador de nettoyer la baie de Port-au-Port, qui est contaminée par du pétrole qui fuit - depuis deux ans - à partir du site de forage abandonné situé à proximité.

We are concerned about our beaches, the birds and wildlife on Shoal Point and the fishery in Port-Au-Port Bay.
We would like to know what action our representatives have taken or intend to take, with respect to the clean-up of this mess? How long will we have to wait for this to be addressed?
As each day passes, more oil leaks into the water and scallop beds are destroyed. It would seem that a “response time” is well past due. Western Canada Marine Response has stated that 6 hours is their standard response time to a spill under 150 tons. Citizens of Port au Port, NL deserve similar treatment.
It has been nearly 2 years since government was first approached on this issue.
Bill O'Gorman, resident of West Bay near Shoal Point and the Fishery Committee Chairperson, expresses the sentiment of the Committee:
"Why is it that if you or your neighbour's oil tank is leaking or if there is a spill in the harbour of a city like St. John's or Vancouver there is a very quick response by the regulators in terms of cleaning up the mess and taking action against the polluters, yet the oil from these abandoned drilling sites at Shoal Point is continuing for years to pollute our bay?"
"The different levels of government who have been contacted in this matter and have done nothing, may, in essence, have committed acts of criminal negligence, particularly if anyone in the area becomes ill. These governing bodies could find themselves on the wrong end of a class action law suit,, if they do not act with more caution and concern."
