A,
Don’t get me wrong -- I love celebrating Canada Day with friends and family. I try to spend my time outside with close friends, and make a point of watching the fireworks. But this year I didn’t feel that celebratory.
Harper and the Conservative party are giving Canada a bad name. After more than four years of corporate giveaways, union-busting, and the worst attacks on our environmental laws we’ve ever seen, Canada has a Harper Hangover.
He’s done this:
Oh, and this:
Wish you could close your eyes and make it all go away? Yep, we’re feeling ya.
The SumOfUs community is over 700,000 strong in Canada, and you bet we’re feeling rough after over four years of corporations getting the red carpet while environmental safeguards, workers' rights, and our proudest achievements are taken out with the trash.
Let’s spread the word about this Harper Hangover and the corporate takeover of our democracy.
If you want to ditch your Harper Hangover, can you share this graphic now?
A good night’s sleep won’t make this go away -- but together we can. Now we have to keep doing the hard work of organizing, connecting the dots, and getting our message out there so we can reach as many Canadians as possible in the next few months.
If you don’t have social media or would prefer not to share, would you consider donating to fund our election work?
We’re in the final stages of hiring investigative researchers to expose the deep-pocket connections between politicians and big industry, and we're so excited to share what we've already found with you.
This message was on the lighter side, but the subject is as serious as they come. In a survey two months ago, over ninety per cent of you wanted us to campaign to elect a government that will keep corporate power in check. And that’s just what we’re doing -- we’ll soon be in touch about how you can get involved.
Thanks for all you do,
Emma, Liz, Rosa, and the rest of us
