Cette pétition prend de l'ampleur sur Change.org, souhaitez-vous la signer? Elle demande qu'il existe une limite de différence d'âge de 10 ans pour les rapports sexuels permis avec des mineurs consentants de 16 ou 17 ans, comme il en déjà existe une de 5 ans pour les rapports sexuels avec des mineurs consentants de 14 ou 15 ans. Une telle limite aurait permis de faire condamner l'agresseur de l'auteure de la pétition, qui avait plus du double de son âge et qui a évité toute condamnation en plaidant que la mineure avait consenti au rapport sexuel.

This is important to me because I was sexually assaulted this past October. I was 16 years old when the assault took place, and alone with a man my family trusted. They cannot prove non-consent due to a lack of witnesses, therefore the case is now a he-said/she-said situation, and the perpetrator did not get charged.

After the traumatic event I now suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder

The law currently states that there is a close-of-age exemption for people 13-15 years of age, that teens at 15 years of age may have sexual relations with people up to 5 years older than them. The law at the moment for any-age consent is at 16. I am sending letters to the MP of Alberta, Blake Richards and others to take action towards changing the any-age consent law to 18. And implementing a close-of-age exemption for 16-18 year olds to consent to sexual relations within 10 years of age. If 16 & 17 year olds are not allowed to vote, drink, or smoke what makes the government think they are old enough to hold their own during a sexual advance by an adult male (or female) that could be over twice their age?

I would really appreciate everyone to sign my petition as this is extremely important to me.
