View in browser Hello PAOV,

"Hope lies in dreams, in imagination and in the courage of those who dare to make dreams into reality." - Dr. Jonas Salk

When Jonas Salk invented the polio vaccine in 1952, he had the courage to dream of a world without polio. Thanks to his ingenuity, and the efforts of millions around the world, the polio virus is now 99.9% eradicated. But the fight isn't over yet. It's time we match Dr. Salk's courage and end it once and for all.

Send a tweet to the Canadian and Australian governments asking them to commit to ending polio for good. To wipe out this disease, we need political leaders in countries where polio still exists (like Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan), and wealthy countries that can provide funding (like the UK, Canada, and Australia) to work together and push humanity over the finish line.

Luckily, this year huge progress has been made! In July, Nigeria passed a full 365 days without reporting a single polio case, but to keep up the momentum, we'll need to increase the pressure on our political leaders. That's where global citizens come in.

In November, more than 40 heads of government will meet in Malta to discuss their priorities for the next 2 years. This meeting presents a historic opportunity for the global community to renew its commitment to a polio-free world. Let's make sure they do just that.

Call on Canada and Australia to put polio eradication on the agenda by tweeting at their foreign offices. We're too close to give up now. Let's have the courage to make Dr. Salk's dream of a world without polio a reality.

Thanks for doing what you do,
Dom and the Global Citizen Team
