Something amazing happened last week. California became the first major state in the US to label glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, as a chemical “known to cause cancer.”
This is bold leadership by California. And there is no reason that we can't call on our local provincial or state governments to all make the same move. Live in Alberta or New South Wales or somewhere else? Now you can call on your government to follow California's lead. It only takes two minutes to start a campaign on our new petition platform.
Monsanto’s corporate lobbyists have been using the company's limitless wealth to fight regulations for decades. But SumOfUs members have been fighting back.
Tens of thousands of SumOfUs members have donated to the State of Vermont’s legal fund. The state is defending itself against a lawsuit by Monsanto and its allies in the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association, aimed at overturning a labeling law with strong popular support in the state.

From the very beginning we’ve believed in the strength of numbers (you can see proof of that in our name).
So far we have focused our attention on critical issues like bringing attention to the plight of workers in Bangladesh working in sweatshop conditions, helping persuade massive fast food chains like McDonald’s to adopt more responsible palm oil sourcing policies, and protecting thousands of bunnies from being tortured in the cruel fur industry.
With you at the helm, and other SumOfUs members all over the world starting campaigns to challenge corporate power, who knows what we will accomplish.
