It's our food system, not Monsanto's. Dear Paov,
The Monsanto-backed bill to squash GMO labeling — dubbed the “Deny Americans the Right to Know” or DARK Act by its critics — was approved by the House in July and is now heading to the Senate for a vote. It must be stopped.
Speak up today! Polls make it very clear: more than 90% of Americans support our right to know what’s in our food and how it’s grown. This bill would block genetically engineered (GE) food labeling laws across the country — even those that are already on the books. Contact your Senators today, and urge them to vote “No!”
The stakes are high. Several states have already passed GE labeling laws, including Vermont where labeling will go into effect next summer — unless this bill becomes law.
Local communities across the country, from California to Washington and Hawai’i, have voted to keep GE seeds — and the hazardous pesticides that accompany them — out of local fields and farms. Don’t let these efforts be wiped away. This latest version of the DARK Act would block local governments from restricting GE crops in any way.
Time for a change, stop the DARK Act.
With their aggressive drive for the DARK Act, Monsanto & Co. are pulling out all the stops to shut down the growing momentum for real change across the country. Tell your Senators to step in and protect our right to know.
Thank you for taking a stand against Monsanto & Co.’s control of food and farming.
