Bahrain teachers union leader still in jail, still needs our solidarity
r1 ...
Please don't ignore this message. Mahdi Abu Dheeb's life may depend on it.

It's now been exactly three years since we launched a LabourStart campaign demanding the release of jailed teacher trade union leaders Mahdi Abu Dheeb and Jalila al-Salman in Bahrain. After more than 11,000 of you signed messages calling for their freedom, Jalila was released in early 2013. But Mahdi remains in prison.
He is due to be released in April 2016 after five long years. But meanwhile his health is deteriorating and the authorities are refusing to give him medical attention.
Education International, the global union federation for teachers, is calling on all of us to support the Amnesty International online urgent action.
Please do so today:

Meanwhile, if you're a citizen of a member state of the European Union, I'd like to ask you to support the European Citizens' Initiative sponsored by the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF). The Initiative is just one sentence long and reads:
"We call on the European Commission to ensure fair competition in the different transport modes and to guarantee equal treatment of workers (in respect of the principle of equal pay and working conditions), independently of the country of origin."

Finally, Indian warehouse workers are demanding justice from PepsiCo and they need your support. They are simply demanding the right to join and form a trade union -- a right denied to them by their employer. Over 10,000 of you have supported this important IUF campaign. But as you can imagine, when you take on a global giant like PepsiCo, you need to mobilize as many people as possible. Please sign the appeal and spread the word:

Thanks very much!
