Urgent action: The Kawahiva need 2 minutes of your time r1 ... Help stop the Kawahiva being wiped out by loggers r33

Dear PAOV,

This is important. The Last of the Kawahiva need you – please help us to save one of the most threatened uncontacted tribes in the world.

The Kawahiva are a tiny group of uncontacted Indians who are teetering on the brink of extinction as loggers encroach on their forest. Many of Brazil's uncontacted tribes have already been completely destroyed by violence and diseases introduced by loggers, once thriving and independent societies either gone forever, or reduced to a handful of traumatized and lonely survivors.

If the invaders aren't stopped, the same fate awaits the Kawahiva.

But Brazil's Minister of Justice has the power to permanently protect their territory – the decree is sitting on his desk right now. We have to persuade him to sign it.

Like all uncontacted tribes, the Kawahiva face catastrophe unless their land is protected. But with your help we can stop the Last of the Kawahiva from being destroyed.

Indigenous territories are the greatest barrier to Amazon deforestation, so a victory for the Kawahiva is a victory for all humanity.

We depend on you: Email the Minister of Justice today.

With many thanks,

Stephen Corry

Subject: Save the Kawahiva from extinction

Dear Dr Cardozo,

I am extremely concerned about the situation of the uncontacted Kawahiva tribe in Mato Grosso state. They are one of the most vulnerable peoples on the planet. For the past three decades they have been living on the run from armed loggers and ranchers who are invading and destroying the forest on which they rely entirely. According to FUNAI and public prosecutors they have suffered many genocidal attacks at the hands of the invaders.

The decree ordering the demarcation of their territory, the Rio Pardo, has been on your desk for months. Unless their land is demarcated and properly protected I fear that the Kawahiva will be wiped out forever by violence from outsiders, and by diseases like flu and measles to which they have no resistance.

Brazil's constitution guarantees indigenous peoples' land rights. Please uphold it and sign off the demarcation of the Rio Pardo as a matter of urgency, to save the Kawahiva from extinction.

Yours sincerely,
If you have a couple of minutes more to spare, and want to help the Kawahiva further, please share this campaign with a friend. r0. Survival International USA
