The next two weeks could signal the end of Big Oil's climate-denying ways.
ExxonMobil is under investigation by the New York Attorney General for lying about climate change. At the same time, a second landmark investigation is on the verge of being rolled out -- targeting Exxon and 49 other mega-polluters.
This investigation will be led by the Commission for Human Rights in the Philippines, and you can bet Big Oil will do everything it can to shut it down. So we need to shine a light on the truth and make sure it goes ahead.
With the UN climate talks about to begin, the world’s media will be focused on Paris. This is why we are asking the Commission to start the investigation on oil industry giants like Shell and Chevron during COP21 to maximize the coverage of this landmark investigation.

The science is in -- catastrophic weather events that annually batter island nations like the Philippines are getting worse and worse with climate change. And the reckless development of fossil fuels by irresponsible energy companies is to blame. Typhoons, hurricanes, and cyclones destroy homes, ruin the chance for a healthy life for many around the world, and take lives and livelihoods -- violating basic human rights worldwide.
The Commission for Human Rights in the Philippines agreed to open the investigation after hearing formal demands from disaster survivors, advocates and NGOs. Right now we need to support the Commission so that it doesn't back down in the face of intense pressure from fossil fuel interests.
It’s about time Big Oil has its day in court.
This investigation could be a game changer for the oil industry, forcing some of the world's biggest corporations to be held accountable for misrepresenting the facts about climate change. It starts by putting the spotlight on Exxon, Mobil, Chevron, Shell, and others.
