SumOfUs r1 ...

Over 18,000 of us have already called on WestJet CEO Gregg Saretsky to resign following horrific allegations of sexual assault — now from 10 women.

In a few days, we’re heading to Calgary to deliver the petitions right at WestJet’s headquarters.

Warning: trigger alert — this may be very difficult to read as the content refers to sexual assault.

A,

I mean, we thought it would be pretty big. But not this huge.

When we launched a major campaign targeting WestJet last week for failing to help two employees who’d been sexually assaulted while at work -- we had no idea that it would blow the lid open what appears to be systemic and widespread misconduct at the national airline.

Already, ten women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault at WestJet. And unfortunately, there are even more women who haven’t yet spoken out.

Over 18,000 of us have signed onto a petition demanding CEO Gregg Saretsky’s resignation, and our campaign, together with Mandalena Lewis’ brave lawsuit, has been covered across the country from the CBC, to the Globe and Mail, CTV, Global News, the Canadian Press and more. We were even the headline story on The National Monday night.

One thing is clear: the CEO is feeling the heat, and our impact is reverberating across WestJet’s boardroom, and all across the country.

But we haven’t won yet. WestJet is still refusing to call for the CEO to resign. And so we’re taking our message right to WestJet’s headquarters in Calgary to make sure we’re heard.

Can you add your name to the petition now before we head to Calgary? Every signature counts.

WestJet’s CEO Gregg Saretsky has now admitted that the company’s highest levels of leadership knew about the initial allegations. That means there’s no way he couldn’t be aware of what was going on under his watch. It is the CEO’s job to create a workplace culture where sexual assault is taken seriously. Tragically, this wasn’t the case at WestJet, and Gregg Saretsky needs to step down.

We have more tactics and plans up our sleeve to make sure the CEO knows he can’t hide from us. And our first order of business is to head to Calgary on a mission to get each and every petition into the CEO's hands.

Here's a picture of Mandalena

We won’t stop fighting until Saretsky steps down, we secure justice for all the survivors (including Mandalena, who is pictured above), and Canadians and WestJet employees can be sure this won’t happen again.

Click here to sign the petition now calling on WestJet CEO Gregg Saretsky immediately step down and ensure allegations of sexual assault are thoroughly investigated.

I want to thank you personally for standing with Mandalena and for making sure CEO Gregg Saretsky knows he’s on notice. Together we are living proof that sexual assault doesn’t have to be something that we don’t talk about. That companies can be held accountable for failing to protect their employees from sexual assault. And that people power works.

Onward,
Emma and the rest of the team
