r1 These guys ended up in a refugee camp...
View in browser Hi, we’re Zach and Chris, and we’re Global Citizens.

In making our film Salam Neighbor, we spent a month living in Za'atari Camp in Jordan next to 85,000 Syrian refugees. We were there to capture the stories and reality of our new neighbours who lost family, homes, security and schooling when conflict began in Syria 5 years ago.

On the 5th Anniversary of the Syrian conflict, sign the petition calling on world leaders to prioritize education in emergencies funding for children.

Neighbours like 10 year old Raouf, our friend and informal guide to Za’atari, have personal stories that are unnecessarily tragic. Raouf loved school and dreams of one day being a doctor.

With his school and neighbourhood destroyed by bombs, Raouf’s family fled for Jordan. When we met him, fear paralysed Raouf from wanting to return to school. Now thankfully, through trauma healing and simple learning activities only possible through education in emergencies funding, Raouf is comfortable enough to be back in the classroom.

Children like Raouf deserve to reach their full potential no matter where they were born. Sign the pledge calling on world leaders to support education in emergencies. Syrian, Canadian, American, British or Sudanese, we are all neighbours who rely on one another. Now our neighbours need our help and that of our leaders, for these are stories that are too common around the world.

Thank you,

Zach and Chris Privacy | r0
