PAOV –
The most valuable part of a woman is her brain – nothing is more impressive than an educated, confident woman. I would not be where I am today if I had not received the education that I have. My education has provided me with the confidence and experience to follow my dreams.
But over 62 million of our sisters around the world – half of whom are adolescents – are denied this basic right to education. This matters to all of us because we know that when girls do better, the world does better.
When girls are educated they are more likely to earn better wages, raise healthier families, and create stronger economies.
In short, when girls rise, they take their communities with them. This is why I am so proud to support the Let Girls Learn initiative by First Lady Michelle Obama, which encourages and supports community-led solutions to help girls complete their education.
Join me in pledging to break barriers for the 62 million girls around the world denied their right to an education.
62 million girls need the opportunity to go to school and receive an education. The world needs these girls to follow their dreams and in doing so, make their families, communities, and even countries better.
An educated girl cannot be stopped – her opportunities are limitless.
As people who have had the privilege of receiving an education, it is our responsibility to give these girls the same opportunity. With millions of girls out of school, this won’t be easy, but when millions of us come together and work toward this one goal, it is possible.
Speak up for the 62 million girls who are deprived the opportunity to go to school by supporting Let Girls Learn and adding your name to the pledge.
Thank you,
Sophia Bush
