5,658 Supporters Sign Thomas' petition According to ICBC (here) the intersection of Cowart Road, Highway 16 and Vance Road is one of the top 10 most dangerous crash intersections in the North Central Region of British Columbia. As fellow drivers, we can definitely attest to the dangers associated with turning left in this intersection. Often times other drivers obstruct our view of oncoming traffic, so we either make a 'blind' turn, or wait until the light turns yellow. This still, however, doesn't prove to be safe as drivers often continue through yellow lights, and sometimes even red. Personally, I have witnessed numerous accidents in this very intersection, all with similar stories; Car A is trying to turn left and proceeds when the light turns yellow, but Car B runs the yellow light, and T-Bones Car A. More recently, we lost the life of a 15 year old due to a collision in this very intersection. I feel as though we should take action to make it safer to ensure that this never happens again. Having dedicated turn signals would eliminate the chances of left-turn related car accidents as left-turns are only permitted when given an arrow, and arrows are only given when oncoming traffic is stopped! Also, numerous other highway intersections in Prince George already feature dedicated left turn signals, so it seems about time this one was upgraded as well - for example Highway 16th & Domano & Tyner, Highway 16 & Highway 97, Highway 97 & 15th.
