At the moment it is near impossible for a Mexican citizen to enter Canada as a visitor due to the visa which was introduced in 2009 to stop false asylum seekers. The imposed visa is unfair to those who just want to visit for a vacation and stops many Mexicans from visiting Canada. Prime minister Justin Trudeau promised this visa would be scrapped in Nov 2015 yet we are still waiting! This is neither fair nor right. A 2014 study by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada said $465 million was lost in spending from Mexican visitors because of the visa requirement, in addition to this it has served only to further strain relationships between Canada and our free trade partner to the south. It is time to press the Prime Minister to make good on his promises! Because at the moment in my opinion this is an empty promise and is doing nothing positive for his personal integrity or that of his country.

Many people in Canada have loved ones in Mexico who are not allowed to even visit, this is wrong on so many levels. Thank you Mr Trudeau for promising to scrap the visa but your promise was not accompanied by a date or even a time frame and is thus, an empty promise. The people signing this petition urge you to act on this situation.
