Last week the Stolen Homes coalition pulled off something incredible.
Seventeen actions across the globe demanding that Airbnb stop listing rentals in illegal Israeli settlements.
The expanse of actions represents a real escalation of the campaign. #StolenHomes coalition members organized rallies in Chicago, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco, Durham, Los Angeles, Austin, Madison, St. Louis, Twin Cities, New Haven, Amsterdam, Palestine, Dublin and Paris (!)
Airbnb hasn’t come to the table with a clear solution yet, so we pivoted these actions to focus on FIdelity Investments, a key Airbnb investor. Each action made sure Fidelity felt our power - and they definitely did, hiring private security ahead of many of our actions.
Our mobilizations are having an impact, raising the issue of illegal Israeli settlements to the pages of dozens of media outlets nationally. Airbnb is a brand with a reputation to lose, and through continued public pressure and shaming, we can move Airbnb to abandon its profiteering from Palestinian displacement.

PS: Two days after we pulled off this amazing action, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an Executive Order creating an official state blacklist of organizations that support BDS. So in essence, he’s declaring that investments in Airbnb and other occupation profiteers have the active and full support of the State of New York.
