Friends,
Last week, we witnessed another tragic pipeline leak in Saskatchewan. Over 200,000 litres of oil leaked into the North Saskatchewan River – a main source of drinking water – causing a local state of emergency in Prince Albert.1
This spill affirms what we know to be true – that pipelines are never 100% safe. That’s why we need people across Canada to stand together against the Kinder Morgan pipeline.
Over the past two weeks people all along the Kinder Morgan route have made it clear: the risk of this pipeline to the water, land and climate are just too high.
But, they need our help. They need people across Canada to let the Prime Minister know that climate leadership means keeping dirty tar sands oil in the ground.
Click here to tell Prime Minister Trudeau and... his Ministerial Panel to reject Kinder Morgan.
At times like this, I’m reminded of the battle against Keystone XL. It started when Indigenous peoples took a stand together with communities along the route of the proposed pipeline. Then, it grew into a national movement that made it clear to President Obama that the pipeline put his global climate reputation at stake. Thanks to the cross-continental opposition to Keystone -- we were able to win that fight.
This is Trudeau’s ‘Keystone moment’. We must stand with the frontline communities standing up against Kinder Morgan. We have to rise up to show the nation-wide opposition to new tar sands infrastructure. Add your voice by telling Prime Minister Trudeau and his panel to reject Kinder Morgan.
I look forward to delivering your message -- and thousands of others when Justin Trudeau’s panel reaches my city, Vancouver.
Onwards,
Cam
